Maka and Durkin grace the Graduation Music pages once again, this time with a highly-listenable offering titled “Forward”. The first release from the duo in 2019, “Forward” is a sonically-pleasing reminder to keep pushing forward no matter what may occur.
Maka and Durkin have had quite the history with one another, releasing two projects and a string of singles that have proved to be some of the best releases out of the state of Massachusetts in recent years. Their first piece of work together since Waterproof (2018), “Forward” is a tell-tale sign of the successes that are to come from Maka and Durkin as the year unfolds.
“Forward” revolves around Maka’s decision to move forward in his life at all costs. He details some of the tumultuous events that he’s been forced to endure in his life as of late, however, refuses to let this negativity drag him off the path towards his destiny. Maka understands the fact that the world will continue moving no matter what, and he’s not prepared to get left behind whatsoever. As the cover art depicts, “Forward” quite literally feels like a stroll along the beach as a storm ensues. With distraction and risk surrounding us completely, we must make the decision to keep moving gracefully as if all is well. This is the only way that we’ll see our true potential face-to-face, and it appears to be something that Maka understands exceptionally well.
Maka and Durkin have successfully blessed listeners with a potent release once again. As the pair continue to work side-by-side, their chemistry only seems to be growing stronger. Be sure to keep them on your radar in 2019.

It’s been awhile since we’ve had some new Patrick Michel music to listen to, so it goes without saying that the Graduation Music staff is pleased to present you “Don Ricardo Drive [Paranoia]”. Making use of some hard-hitting Maka production, the Brockton-native truly hits this release out of the park.
Brockton, Massachusetts has steadily become one of the state’s biggest hot spots for music, with “Don Ricardo Drive [Paranoia]” being the first successful release to come out of the city in 2019. Patrick Michel has a history of making high-energy music, however this song is most definitely a standout within his discography. He’s preparing his listeners for his next project, which is slated to come out this year, so in the mean time allow “Don Ricardo Drive [Paranoia]” to fill that void.
Listen to Patrick Michel’s first release of the year below:
From “Guitar Grunge” back in July to “Snake In My Boot” last month and most recently, “Henny Sippa“, 2018 has been a monumental year for Donald Grunge. One release after another, he’s been honing in on his craft, and as a result, we’ve seen some of his most creatively ambitious releases to date in recent months. Needless to say, Grunge is on a win streak right now, and today, he takes all of this energy and puts it toward the release of his long-awaited, highly-anticipated new project, CowboyTalk.
Taking on a Western theme, this tape is eccentric from the cover art all the way to the final seconds of its last song. Grunge pours his heart out into 7 highly-passionate, energetic cuts, leaving it all on the court as he puts forth a noticeably refined version of the “on my own terms” artistry that we’ve grown to love over the years. With production at the hands of local talents including Mike Hector, David Walker, JORD4NEVERDIED, Chris Tophr, Jonny Doobs, Maka, and Humbeats, CowboyTalk picked on a dream team of names to make up its roster, and without a doubt, it paid off. Donald Grunge is here, and he’s here to stay.
If you’re looking for some energy to get you through the week, look no further than FAbzabove’s “Henny Sippa”. Anthemic in its nature and addictive in its excitable presence, this song is making waves all throughout Boston right now, and in order to complement this success, FAbz is here to drop off the accompanying visuals via ELEVATOR. Alongside Donald Grunge and Splash Got’Em, this track is proven to have shut down venues (the video has proof), and the music video is ready to spread this hype from Boston to the rest of the world.
With this, thanks to direction and videography from the all-star himself, Xandros, “Henny Sippa” perfectly captures the ways in which this release has continuously made waves throughout its city of origin. Each of the three artists on the song are known in Boston for their talents, and the firepower that arises from a collaboration between the trio is simply indescribable — just listen to the verses for proof. I could talk about this song and music video all day long, but the point is, “Henny Sippa” is a rallying point for Boston, so let’s treat it as such.
One of the main criticisms of the Massachusetts music scene right now is that instead of coming together and collaborating, artists see everything as a competition and are hesitant to embrace the sense of “community” that people are looking for. Regardless of your thoughts on the criticism, it’s always refreshing to see this concept of collaboration come to fruition, and today, this is perfectly exemplified with Connis’ brand new song, “Tall Model B*tch”. Bringing together the names of Maka, FAbzabove, Gogo, and Donald Grunge, this one represents a special moment for Massachusetts, and rightfully so, the music follows up with a high level of quality to match.
Produced by the hitmaker himself, Maka, “Tall Model B*tch”`finds its energy within an endless supply of playful flows as well an electric melody. The beat is simplistic, but by matching the hard-hitting bass with lyrical acrobatics from every single artist on the song, it comes through as immensely powerful. There doesn’t exist one unimpressive verse on “Tall Model B*tch”, and with every single artist going as hard as they possibly can, it goes without saying that Connis’ latest is going to do serious numbers — plus, you can pretty much already tell that this track performed live might just shut down a venue on any given night.
That said, listen at the link below and embrace the sight of so many Mass-based artists coming together on one song!
When it comes to the finest of duos in music right now, two of Massachusetts’ own, Maka and Durkin, simply need to come to mind. They proved themselves to be a powerful pair in all of the tropical glory of Another Island, and today, following up the lead single “Malie“, this Jordan-Pippen team is back to drop off yet another collaborative project entitled Waterproof. And quite frankly, it’s some of their finest work to date. I didn’t know how much better it could get from Another Island, but they’ve outdone themselves, and I can’t wait for you to hear.
That being said, over the course of 9 songs, the latest from Maka and Durkin finds them at their most polished forms to date. Durkin’s production brings out the best in Maka, and by riding each beat with an equal supply of effortlessness and melodic touch, Maka makes the most of these addictive sonic backgrounds. One heater after another, this EP brings to fruition a dance-inspiring mood that you simply can’t help but fall in love with, and at its core, it’s an incredibly fun project for listeners to keep on repeat during any and all upcoming functions they may have.

Banding together to form one of the most exciting, creative groups out of Boston in recent memory, NSFW is dead set on making their presence known as artists. The wide scope of talents and ideas that they bring to the table is unlike any other, and consequently, these rising talents are on a fast track to great notoriety with their infectious wave of ingenuity.
