Donald Grunge – “Cowboy Talk” [Official Music Video]

By: Shamus Hill

Graduation Music’s favorite cowboy, Donald Grunge, recruited the talents of John Rawl to assist in bringing his first music video to life.

“Cowboy Talk” served as the intro to Donald Grunge’s debut project, Cowboy Talk, and since its release towards the end of 2018 its remained undeniably formidable. Every single component of it has endured the test of time, with it being arguably the best project to come out of Massachusetts since Cousin Stizz’s Suffolk County. Whatever your opinion may be, one thing persists, and it’s that Donald Grunge refuses to fly under anyone’s radar. Seemingly everyday now he reveals a new snippet of a track that somehow sounds better than the last, and he continuously teases at collaboration projects with some of the Bay State’s finest artists. To say that his 2019 is going to be a successful one would be a vast understatement. We’re tremendously excited to see what he has to offer as the year continues.

Recruiting Chicago’s Thelonious Martin, Kadeem returns to the Graduation Music site today with his first single of 2019 — a hypnotic, well-sculptured track titled “Wide Margins”. This release serves as yet another marvelous Hip-Hop offering to come out of the state of Massachusetts this year, with Kadeem only furthering the narrative that our state is home to a plethora of talent.

The Mattapan native has been featured on Graduation Music a countless amount of times — with each one of his releases being endlessly-playable, layered pieces of work that circulate around Kadeem’s human experience. He has a way of making his raps appear effortless at times, however each syllable he utters holds a vast amount of weight:

“N*ggas on the road to riches in the sidecar // Baggies in the stomach, while you n*ggas swallow Tide Pods, the difference too wide apart”

Kadeem – “Wide Margins”

Thelonious Martin’s production here is a perfect fit for Kadeem, as he mixes his polished raps with unpredictable flows to concoct a truly outstanding release. If you haven’t yet, be sure to dive into Kadeem’s discography as he’s gearing up to have an impressive 2019.

Heath240 – “That’s True”

By: Shamus Hill

Making his debut onto the Graduation Music site today is Boston’s Heath240, who recently gifted listeners with his first release of 2019 –“That’s True”.

Heath240’s most recent track prior to this was “MUDD” featuring Michael Christmas, and it was here that his individualistic style really began to take its form. He’s been working relentlessly towards the development of his artistry, and despite the fact that he’s still in the process of progressing towards his goals — he’s not allowing this facet of life to define his perception of self. This is something that he touches upon in “That’s True”, with the song ultimately being the most prominent release within his catalog of music.

Making use of raspy, yet harmonically-rich vocals that make way for refined flows throughout, this track is a tell-tale sign that Heath240 is heading in the right direction in 2019. Yet another example of just how musically talented the city of Boston is — be sure to keep Heath240 on your radar.
