Austin Fair – ‘PIONEER’ [Album]

By: Frankie Wahlberg

Austin Fair has had his foot on the gas in 2020. Only a few months following the release of his 17 song project Joyride, the Chicopee rapper returns with a brand new album entitled PIONEER — a lyrically dense, 29-minute reminder of why Austin’s name carries weight across the entirety of Massachusetts.

Although the pace of his recent releases may be characterized as being somewhat ambitious, the high-level of quality associated with them unquestionably stands as justification for such a rapid musical output. Laced with production elements of jazz-hop, courtesy of executive producer — and Austin Fair’s cousin — Humbeats, Fair flows from track to track with such mastery that it almost appears effortless. Bouncing between songs such as “Honor Roll”, which will motivate you to roll out of bed and do push-ups, to “Up & Away”, which will motivate you to roll up and spark, the lyrical content prevalent within this project is of a high degree. Echoing the sounds of a man punching his way through the glass ceiling that hangs over the Massachusetts Music Scene — a struggle that many artists from the Bay State know all too well — Austin Fair does a phenomenal job with respect to getting authentic sentiments out to his audience.

The powerful duo of Austin Fair and Hetriks combines once again for a summer anthem titled “Slide”.

The Chicopee native has spent the vast majority of 2019 building up his arsenal of music, with “Slide” being only his second track to be released this year. Austin Fair – “Chose Up Freestyle” (Prod. Humbeats)

By: Shamus Hill

Chicopee-native, Austin Fair, recently dropped “Chose Up Freestyle”, a layered track where Austin airs out some of what’s been weighing on him mentally. Recruiting Humbeats to lace this track with some mesmerizing production, Austin Fair is on a mission to prove to the world that he’s equipped with what it takes to reach the next level.

Austin Fair and Humbeats have been making music alongside one another for an extremely lengthy period of time, and the chemistry shown between the two cousins becomes overwhelmingly apparent as you listen through “Chose Up Freestyle”. SuperSmashBroz – “Max Out” ft. Caliph, Reem Skully, & Austin Fair

By: Seamus Fay

Aside from being BMA-nominated best DJs in the state, the SuperSmashBroz are also Boston’s finest facilitators. Look at their summer 2017 project, Family Cookout, for example, in which they connected over 30 Massachusetts-based artists to promote the local music scene and bring to fruition various highly-anticipated collaborations. More recently, take a look at their last project – Code Name: Girls Next Door – in which they saw the talents in Gin Mason and CHI and decided to bring them together for an EP. As you can see, the SmashBroz are constantly connecting the dots, and today, they do so yet again with a new single entitled “Max Out”.

Joining together Caliph, Reem Skully, and Austin Fair all over a backbone of SuperSmashBroz and Humbeats production, this song is yet another example of why the brotherly DJ duo is so important for Massachusetts. In getting these 3 incredible rappers together, they bless us with a mesmerizing display of lyrical prowess and addictive rhythms. Each of these artists, one after another, establish a solid degree of chemistry with the others while also showcasing their own individual talents, and all in all, “Max Out” is just the right song to keep all of our vibes right as the summer winds down to its end.

In the words of the SmashBroz, this is “just a lil somethin’ to get your vibes right“, so make sure you give it a listen at the link provided below:

Austin Fair & Hetriks – ‘413’ [Mixtape]

By: Seamus Fay

Austin Fair is a workhorse. His undying supply of passion and wholeheartedly inspiring hunger towards making it in rap never goes unnoticed on our pages, and today, he’s back yet again with a brand new mixtape alongside producer Hetriks entitled 413. But it doesn’t feel like enough to simply say that this is Austin Fair’s return to Graduation Music – he’s back, but he isn’t the same as he used to be. This time around, Fair is brought forth with a vengeance, even coming with an improved artistry and clear ambition that he communicates throughout the tape. If there’s any collection of music that shows just how dedicated Austin Fair is to his art, it has to be 413.

That being said, the collaborative effort between the young talent and producer Hetriks on this one contributes greatly to the identity of the tape. The two find an emphatic degree of chemistry in which they operate and grow within, and by taking a few risks while maintaining the reputation and threshold of quality that Fair has become known and loved for, they join forces in the most impressive, productive ways possible. Each new song fits perfectly within the sonic sweet spots that the Chicopee representative has discovered, marking 413 as an undeniably consistent mixtape to kick the summer off with.

Austin Fair – “WALK” (Prod. Hetriks)

By: Shamus Hill

Austin Fair is in full effect!! Dropping the first single since his acclaimed STARPOWER album release, this Hetriks-produced track is a banger that deserves your immediate attention.

For starters, the work ethic currently being displayed by Austin Fair and the rest of The HomeTeam is nothing less than admirable. Fresh off of a show in Amherst this past weekend, Austin just released “WALK” to remind everyone that he’s really in his bag right now. This man really said, “I do donuts in that hooptie, cuz I can’t afford the ghost”, as if he somehow telepathically knows my current vehicular situation.

On a more serious note though, “WALK” speaks to Austin’s current feelings about all of the work he’s been putting in, and how his dreams are beginning to manifest in front of him. He knows that the finish line is still on the horizon,  but the path towards that finish line is growing clearer and clearer with each move he makes. Aside from this, the beat provided by Hetriks really allows for Austin to bring all of these ideas together in a manner that ultimately results in a really well-executed song, so big props to the duo for playing to each others’ strengths here.

Show Austin Fair and Hetriks some love, and listen to “WALK” below.

Austin Fair – ‘STARPOWER’ [Mixtape]

By: Seamus Fay

Considering the extensive catalog of bangers that he has created up until now, I feel confident in saying that it’s always going to be a great day when we receive new music from Austin Fair. Today, the rising talent is here on Graduation Music to share his latest project, STARPOWER. 13 tracks long and packed with features from a number of fellow MA artists, this project is a highly-entertaining listen from the first second to the last, and definitely not something to be sleeping on.

Personally, my attraction to Austin Fair’s music roots from his ability to curate a vibe with any venture he sets out on. Whether he’s trying to craft a banger or a smoother, R&B-influenced track, Fair always puts his all into it and seems to know exactly what he’s doing. In this light, STARPOWER is the perfect example of the young artist’s talents in creating and executing his vision, making for cohesive and impressive projects, not just scattered singles.

If you didn’t realize it already, the dedicated work ethic that we’re seeing from his corner is definitely paying off, so be sure to show some love and listen to the latest project from Austin Fair at the link below.

Lance Jackson – “Alright” ft. Austin Fair [Prod. Humbeats]

By: Seamus Fay

All I can say is wow. Randolph native Lance Jackson recently dropped a new single titled “Alright” featuring Graduation Music frequent flyer, Austin Fair, and in all honesty, this is one of the best tracks of 2018 so far. It grabs the complementary styles of each of these two artists and adds it to undoubtedly one of my favorite Humbeats production placements as of yet, making for a potential hit that is already proving to do quite well in its first few days out. The sound of this one is sonically just on par with where each young talent thrives and it is clear through the chemistry exhibited on “Alright” that everyone hit their sweet spot.

However, the sound of this single wasn’t the only aspect that caused me to gravitate towards the standout track. Additionally, the subject matter on this one turns it from just a banger into an anthem – an anthem for both the lows and the highs, the failures and the successes, the ups and the downs. Whether you’ve been winning in 2018 so far or it doesn’t feel like it’s going to be your year, Jackson and Fair are here to remind you that everything’s going to be alright either way. Having said that, be sure to show some love and check out the new song below!

Austin Fair – “UnZip” ft. HighKey Random

By: Seamus Fay

Austin Fair is one of the hardest working individuals in the local rap scene that we know. Plain and simple. Having said that, we have watched him grow as an artist substantially throughout the past year, and by the end of 2017, he had become one of the most promising talents in Massachusetts. Today, Fair is ready to pick things back up on that note and start off his 2018 with a dope new single titled “”UnZip” featuring HighKey Random and premiered by none other than DJ Supahstar.

For starters, this track is produced by Humbeats and as we all know by now, Fair and Humbeats together is just unfair. The two have an undeniable chemistry that makes for standout songs each and every time, and “UnZip” is certainly no exception to this. The infectious melodic approach of this single mixed with well-fitting vocal deliveries from both Fair and Random mesh together to make for a release that etches itself in your brain on just the first listen, and the unforgettable hook on this one has led me to click replay again and again.

Overall, “UnZip” is a hell of a way to start off the new year for Austin Fair, HighKey Random, Humbeats, and DJ Supahstar, so be sure to check the song out below.

The Top 50 New England Songs of 2017

By: Seamus Fay

Looking back, 2017 was a year of immense growth for New England and specifically Massachusetts’ budding music scene. We were fortunate enough to see the rise of many new talents as well as watch some of the more established artists prosper in their own ways, and frankly, it was inspiring to us to see the work that the artists, the producers, the photographers, the graphic designers, the mixers, the managers, etc. have been putting in. Austin Fair – ‘High Demand’ EP [Premiere]

By: Shamus Hill

Austin Fair is without a doubt one of Graduation Music’s favorite artists making noise in Massachusetts right now. The Chicopee-native has been working his ass off throughout 2017 with the releases of his Everlasting album and Dead Roses mixtape, and has been growing increasingly popular across the state by way of his consistent output and relentless work ethic. Austin’s latest release, “LEBRON”, has received exceptional reception from fans both new and old, which in turn has shifted a lot of focus towards what his next move will be. And now, in a truly merry fashion, Austin Fair is here on our pages to gift the world with his highly-anticipated High Demand EP for Christmas.

With the majority of High Demand being produced by Humbeats, this project offers an array of sounds, all of which are more than deserving of being put into the rotation for the weeks to come. “Uh Huh” is the first track on the project, and off the rip, it sets the high-paced vibe off and lets listeners know right away that he isn’t playing with this project – Fair is ready to end 2017 with a bang. Much like “LEBRON”, this first cut slaps, and will definitely be one that the real Austin Fair fans will recognize as he has performed it at several shows in the past. With this, Austin stated that he “can finally give people the songs they’ve been rocking with at all the shows”, speaking to the unrivaled number of bangers he has had in the vault just waiting on their release. Those fortunate enough to have witnessed an Austin Fair performance know all-too-well about how rowdy they can get.

Following “Uh Huh” comes “Finesse” (ft. Suave), which will catch some of the newer Austin Fair fans off guard. Providing some feel-good vibes through the combination of Austin and Suave’s looming vocals, this track has quickly established itself as one of my favorite songs off of High Demand. Hands-down my favorite song off of the EP, however, was “New Persona”, which follows “Finesse” on the tracklist. Showcasing his experimental flow capabilities and the production talent of frequent collaborator Humbeats, the Jordan-Pippen duo were able to come up with a wonderful sounding track that is a lot more relaxed than some of the other music featured on the project.

Overall, I highly recommend listening to one of the most genuine, hardworking individuals out here who has been trying to make something happen in his home state. There aren’t many people exerting as much effort as this dude is, which has really paid off for Austin as he has slowly, but surely, built his fanbase from the ground up and will continue to do so in the new year.

Austin Fair – “LEBRON” [Prod. HETRIKS]

By: Seamus Fay

Austin Fair may be one of the hardest workers in the region with an overwhelming amount of hits in the vault and a consistent output of strong releases. With that being said, he has undoubtedly earned the right to flex many times over, and today he’s back on our pages to take full advantage of the opportunity. Here enters the rising talent’s latest single “LEBRON” produced by HETRIKS.

Aggressive in its production, ignorant yet intoxicating in its delivery, and memorable in its looming, confrontational melodies. All of these elements come to mind first when describing Fair’s latest release, and although it may not be what fans are used to, it’s certainly not something to pass off as just another song. Fair has the skills and charismatic ability to truly entertain listeners effortlessly, and I don’t see any ceilings in sight if he can continue to prove his wide array of stylistic abilities within rap by means of tracks like this. One thing is for sure: you can’t sleep on what has become an unstoppable wave, so give “LEBRON” a listen below.
