Connis – “Kiss The Moon” [Official Music Video]

By: Shamus Hill

Building off of the success of his recent debut album, Connis returns with the official music video for “Kiss The Moon”.

Personally speaking, the release of “Kiss The Moon” more than 10 months ago marked a stark transition within Connis’ musical career. He had been consistently releasing a steady stream of potent music, however this track was the first of many that helped produce the wondrous aura that currently surrounds the Cambridge artist. His ability to intertwine his life experience within masterful sonic structures is unparalleled in not only the state of Massachusetts, but across the world. It’s only fitting that the reception of Conn(is) was as big as it was, especially being that he’s continuously been one of the most hardworking individuals with respect to propelling Massachusetts’ music scene to newer heights.

This Simon Morrison directed visual does a phenomenal job at making this already successful track even more meaningful. Equipped with scenes throughout the Cambridge and Boston area, Connis plays the role of what many of us are — a young adult from Massachusetts that’s enduring the trials and tribulations of life whilst aspiring to be something great. While a lot of his music stems from his own personal experiences, Connis ultimately speaks on behalf of a lot of people who’ve been through some of the similar circumstances that he’s faced. I for one can say that I’ve found a certain level of solace through Connis’ discography, and for that reason he will always be an artist that I both respect and admire.

Gogo. – “Captian.” (Prod. abu617)

By: Shamus Hill

Making his return to the Graduation Music site today is Gogo., who recently collaborated with abu617 in order to gift fans with “Captian.”.

While the Cambridge-native maintains his usual melodic style here, this release doesn’t have the tropical, shimmering feel that’s typically attached to Gogo.’s discography. He possesses a more serious demeanor on this track, and abu617’s contemplative production allows for Gogo. to relay how he’s been feeling as of late. More than aware of his own talents, Gogo.’s not entertaining the thought of anything that isn’t assisting him in reaching his goals. Embedding himself seamlessly within the instrumental, this release is one of Gogo.’s most addictive to-date.

Jerome B – “Condos” [Music Video]

By: Shamus Hill

Recently, Jerome B and Bridge Vision collaborated on the official video for “Condos”, which was featured on Jerome B’s 2018 release, Price of Paradise. This high-tempo, in-your-face record circulates around Jerome’s dissatisfaction towards the gentrification taking place across Boston, specifically his hometown of Somerville. The video, however, rather than shining a negative light on the subject, showcases the beauty of Jerome’s city, and all of the people who have helped make Somerville the place Jerome knows and loves so well.

Utilizing visuals featuring some Somerville locals, Market Basket, and even the pouring out of some Dunkin Donuts coffee, both Jerome B and Bridge Vision did a wondrous job at encapsulating the spirit of both the younger and older generations of Somerville. Watching this video makes you feel as if you’re going to the Ville for the day to chill with Jerome B and his crew, which ultimately ends up being the strongest argument against gentrification and the “pushing out” of generations of residents. The “Condos” video helps to showcase the beauties of Somerville, while at the same time letting everyone know that the people there won’t simply be ridden of.

The pride that Jerome B has brought to the forefront in this video is stellar, and is something that we all should display with respect to where we are from. Hats off to everyone involved here, as they did an amazing job at providing above par visuals for this addictive record.
