Darius Heywood – “Night Rage” (Prod. Rauxy Woodro)

By: Shamus Hill

Returning to the Graduation Music site today is Brockton’s Darius Heywood with “Night Rage” — the first single off of his upcoming collaboration project with Rauxy Woodro, From The East.

This introspective track circulates around the everyday realities of Darius’ life growing up in Brockton. Whether it be his personal trauma, witnessing struggle, or persisting when negativity surrounds, Darius Heywood explicitly dictates what has molded him into the individual that he currently is. Rauxy Woodro does a truly wondrous job with respect to his assistance in developing a solid sonic structure, with “Night Rage” serving as evidence that From The East is set to be the next formidable collection of music to come out of the city of Brockton this year.

KyE Nathaniel ft. Cyrus Brxxs – “No Love” (Prod. Kato On The Track) [Official Music Video]

By: Shamus Hill

New Bedford’s KyE Nathaniel taps in Cyrus Brxxks and Kato On The Track for “No Love” — an accomplished offering that keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the entirety of its duration.

From start to finish, “No Love” is a rollercoaster journey that’s full of compelling, playful, and braggadocios lines that lock the listener in a trance. Equipped with references to the Iliad & The Odyssey, WWE, and everything in between — this track truly possesses something for everyone. Both KyE Nathaniel and Cyrus Brxxs don’t waste a single breath, with each of their verses being crafted in an extremely articulate fashion. The high-level of chemistry between this pair of rappers is most definitely apparent on this release, so hopefully they’ll be joining forces once again in the future.

Nate Taber truly excelled at constructing the music video for “No Love”. He successfully inserted an additional layer of lovability and potency to this track through the use of his visual skillset, with this certainly being KyE Nathaniel’s best music video to date. This release is yet another excellent release to come out of New Bedford over the course of 2019, so be sure to turn your eyes toward this city as they aren’t showing even the slightest sign of slowing their pace.

Stefan – “SAD2SEE” (Prod. Twayne The Kidd”

By: Shamus Hill

Brockton’s Stefan returns to the Graduation Music site today with a passionate single titled “SAD2SEE”.

This release is based around the sad reality that comes paired with the pursuit of a significant other that’s plagued with self-doubt and a lack of love. This sentiment ultimately shifts this individual’s mentality towards one that is full of solitude, which hurts Stefan tremendously. While his heart may be full of true intentions, it’s worthless when the recipient isn’t aware of how to accept these emotions.

While the lyrical content of “SAD2SEE” may not be of the most positive nature, the sonic structure provided by Stefan with the assistance of Connecticut’s Twayne The Kidd is one that’s undeniably addictive. This track rests as my favorite component of Stefan’s discography to date, so with that being said I’m thrilled to see what he’ll have coming next.

MEECH – ”NineFour’ [Album Review]

By: Shamus Hill

Anyone who’s been keeping up with the current climate of Massachusetts’ music scene will undoubtedly be aware of the mark that Van Buren Records has been leaving in 2019. Luke Bar$ and Jiles kicked things off with the release of their collaboration project, 2 Sides, and soon after they were followed up by Lord Felix with the release of In Bloom, Forever. The both of these projects have assisted in cementing Brockton as one of the Bay State’s musical powerhouses, and today, MEECH dropped his second album, ‘NineFour, which only reinforces this statement.

Sitting at a comfortable 6 tracks, ‘NineFour is a solid composition that intertwines vulnerable life experience and futuristic aspirations. Anyone who has kept up with our site throughout the last few years will assuredly recognize MEECH by name, as he’s steadily risen up the food-chain within Brockton’s long list of amazing artists. He possesses an innate ability to flow meticulously whilst keeping his lyrical content up to an extremely high par. Each track off of ‘NineFour contains a vastly different feeling, but much like life itself, flows into the next chapter with true fluidity. In a statement released by MEECH prior to the album’s release he stated:

I HIGHLY urge you to listen to the lyrics, concepts. Smoke one to it, drink to it, meditate to it, work out to it, etc.

Topics such as falling to the Demise of your own and other people’s actions, feelings of being financially/spiritually/mentally Rich & Broke. Struggle with Trusting people wholeheartedly, stress of going to outside festivities and evil aspects that’s currently infested into our world. To elevating mentally, spiritually & physically with a possible life partner.
Every feature was written with so much vulnerability, and authentic ass perspectives. It’s the closest you’ll get to truly know who we are as PEOPLE and what we think and go through. If you don’t personally know us, we gave you a piece of who we are.

Stay Woke, Stay Blessed, and Stay Inspired.

The only features on this project are Van Buren’s Jiles, Lord Felix, and Luke Bar$, with each putting their best foot forward to assist MEECH in achieving new heights. “No House Parties (Stay Inside)” served as the first single to be released off of ‘NineFour, and throughout my first few listens to the project it remains formidable as my favorite component of this release. “We VB” which features Lord Felix, is yet another standout, as this track thoroughly encapsulates the energy persistent within Van Buren Records. This collective of highly capable artists is centered around hometown pride and the truthful bond that persists between each member. They only grow stronger as each builds upon their individual discographies, and as they continue to develop alongside one another there’s no telling where the end of their achievements will lay. We’ve already been blessed with a high volume of potent music in 2019, however it’s Van Buren Records that has been paving the way for the rest of Massachusetts.

Rothstein – “Are You Down” (Prod. DOC)

By: Shamus Hill

Get your designer handkerchiefs ready because Rothstein is back with a brand-new release titled “Are You Down”.

Utilizing some exceptional production at the hands of DOC, Rothstein quite literally floats atop this track as he dwells on whether or not his significant other will remain by his side through both thick and thin. Lyrically speaking, Rothstein has always exhibited brilliance, however he’s truly mastered the ability to evoke incredibly sharp emotion with his vocal work — with “Are You Down” being the perfect example of this. It’s the type of track that’ll launch you into the depths of an emotional rollercoaster, but in the best way possible. Rothstein is far from finished in 2019, so be sure to listen to his latest offering AND check out our interview with the Cambridge talent if you have not yet!

Maka – “Live In Boston” [Official Music Video]

By: Shamus Hill

Returning to the Graduation Music site today with the release of his first music video is Cambridge’s Maka.

“Live In Boston” served as Maka’s debut rap release which hit the streets more than a year ago. Circulating around the monetary motivation that pushes both Maka and his peers, this track is living proof of just how much of a multi-faceted artist he is. Known for his watery, unpredictable flows that take over the mindset of the listener, “Live In Boston” is a wondrous combination of Maka’s usual style and rapping capabilities. Be on the lookout for what he has next to come.

PLAD Fine$$e – “Pac-Man” (Prod. Mike Hector)

By: Eden Bekele

Roxbury rapper PLAD Fine$$e teams up with Mike Hector to produce his latest track, “Pac-Man”. After an almost year-long hiatus, the rapper has been on a roll, with this release and his single “Pressure”, which released not even a month earlier, the rapper is quite literally applying pressure.

For those that are familiar with Fine$$e from his earlier work, “Pac-Man” shows consistency and excitement. The track is only two minutes and five seconds, but it packs a tremendous punch. His inherent confidence shines through with his melodic style and effortless flow, making this track an instant hit.  While I was left wishing for a little more from the track, it’s fair to say that the rising talent is working and we’ll be satisfied soon.

From Roxbury to the world, Fine$$e is on the rise and we look forward to seeing what else he has in store.
