During the beginning days of Graduation Music, I remember searching for Boston talent via Twitter and SoundCloud when one of the first names that I stumbled on happened to be Superior. Since I first started writing about him, I have seen nothing but immense growth and increasingly polished artistry, and looking back, I can honestly say that he has been one of my favorite artists to listen to throughout this entire journey. Today, the Boston native comes through with “Whiplash” – a standout single that may just take the top spot as my favorite Superior song as of yet.
Blessed with agile production courtesy of Nick E Beats, this single establishes itself as a victorious display of the magic that can come out of the marriage between melodic beats and aggressive lyricism. Something about the way that they clash together just sounds perfect, and if there’s any artist who has been doing this right, it’s Superior. He knows his skill set and performs perfectly within it, proving himself in a manner that not all artists, big or small, really know how to do so seamlessly. I could go on all day about this song and its spot in Superior’s catalog, but check it out for yourself below and show some love to one of Boston’s finest talents.
