This past summer, Boston’s own Durkin joined forces with MAKA for a wonderfully tropical joint project, the Another Island EP. Between an incredible reception of the work from fans and critical acclaim for its never-ending supply of infectious energy, the rising multi-talent has remained a relevant topic of conversation in his city as a standout artist to pay attention to. Today, Durkin is back to offer fans a new single titled “Teardrops” alongside Berlin singer Dena (who may just be one of my favorite singers after her flawless role in this release).
Unique in its hypnotic melodies and vulnerable subject matter, the single is a perfect combination of several relaxed, steadily dope elements to make it a must-listen. The chorus rings out with the recurring statement “teardrops falling on the phone”, fashioned with a slightly exotic tint and an overall beautifully done vocal performance from the Berlin talent. By mixing that with smoothly-cut percussion to top things off, a strong atmosphere is created by this track to keep fans everywhere hitting repeat again and again.
