Just a few weeks back, helping to end the summer on a high note, Boston native Yung Lano released a new project titled Revenue hosted by the SuperSmashBroz. And after finally giving it a listen this past weekend, I can honestly call myself a fan of what may just be a standout tape looking back on 2017. In just 10 tracks, Lano gives listeners a look at several different aspects of his life in great detail, all the while keeping it entertaining with hard-hitting production from names including Stoop Kid, The Beat Plug, and CashMoneyAp. To describe this project in full, its most important to note the local pride so clearly shown through different shoutouts and references, providing fans with an accurate view of the events and environment that made Lano who he is today.
Revenue has no shortage of bangers, and through infectious hooks and hometown pride, it’s an easy project to connect with on a more personal level. Along with this, as some of the names mentioned earlier suggest, this tape employs some of the best local talents for production and features. This only strengthens my support for Lano, as it’s always pleasing to see the artists within the city work with one another and show support, pushing Boston’s bubbling scene as a whole and letting the world know that we have quite a bit to offer. This one is for the home team. Listen to Revenue below:
