Although it has been out for nearly a year now, Boston artists Caliph and Jefe Replay have consistently remained in my playlist with their collab song “The Mood”, a track that acts as the perfect soundtrack to all your favorite summer memories. With warm production from Obeatz and two effortlessly smooth singing voices and deliveries from Caliph and Replay, “The Mood” was destined to make waves the day it came out – and it has done just that, racking up over 36,000 plays on SoundCloud.
The two are here today revisiting the track with spectacular new visuals directed by JMP (the same guy who did Replay’s “Sips Tea” video – so you know this is going to be good). To unlock the music video, simply go to @askforjuan on Instagram and click “Text”. From there, text the number that appears on the screen the word “Caliph”, and you will be sent a link to the video where a password will be included to help you unlock it. After that, simply enjoy the greatness and bump this song whenever you go out and do something fun this summer.
Without giving too much away, I want to mention that this music video is without a doubt one of the best visual releases of the year so far from Boston. JMP’s specialty seems to be about everything, but in particular, his coloring is what makes me such a fan. Taking the sound of the song and mixing it with all the right imagery to enhance the mood, he makes sure to clearly illustrate the way that the bright colors interact with each other and come together to create so many beautifully done scenes. The music video only makes this song better, and I’m ready to be listening to this nonstop for the next few weeks. So visit the @askforjuan Instagram or text the number below “Caliph” to watch the brand new visuals for “The Mood”.
